ELIGIBILITY & PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

Required Paperwork

All students/athletes at James Monroe Middle School must complete and turn in the following before being allowed to participate in practice and/or tryouts:
 

1. Students and parents/guardians must complete ALL pages of the APS Physical Form

2.  Both parents/guardians and students/athletes must agree to abide by the APS Athletic and Activity Code of Conduct

3. Students must bring copy of their 2nd 9 week grades to tryouts.

4. Complete the Concussion for Students course on https://nfhslearn.com/ by 3/25/2019.

To complete this users need to Order Course which requires registering with the site.

A copy of the Completion Certificate is to be provided to the coaches by 3/25/2019.

Grades and Behavior

Students must have a 2.0 GPA based on the first semester grades in order to make the team. When the 3rd 9 week grades are reported students must have a 2.0 GPA with no 'F's' to stay on the team.

 

Students shall remain academically and behaviorally eligible throughout the season.

 

Students put into TIPS (in school suspension) or suspended, will be dismissed from the team, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Practices

  • Practices are mandatory and will be held weekly, Monday through Friday, from 3:15 to 4:45pm. Please ensure that your student is picked up by 4:45 - 5 pm.

  • Athletes/managers are expected to be at every practice if they wish to remain on the team and compete in meets.

  • If an athlete/manager misses more than two days of practice during the week, they will not be allowed to participate in the upcoming track meet.

  • In the event of illness or family emergency, the athlete/manager will need a note from home explaining the reason for the absence at the next practice.

  • If your student participates in another off-campus sport and the practice schedule conflicts with ours, please have your student remind coaches weekly of when he/she will not be able to attend a practice with us or if they need to leave practice early.

  • Students will be removed from the team after FOUR (4) unexcused absences from practice.

Travel Rules

Travel Rules & Procedures

All student athletes are expected to ride the bus to and from the track meets. Only those athletes participating in a particular meet will be allowed to ride the bus to that meet. Bus rules and procedures will be followed and inappropriate behaviors will result in disciplinary actions through the school.

A parent/guardian wishing to transport their child to/from a meet must complete the following:

  1. Complete a Parent/Guardian Transportation Release form and return it to the coach two school days prior to the meet.

  2. On the day of the event, sign their child out/in through the coach by signing the Parent/Guardian Release to Transport Sign-In/Sign-Out Log.

NOTE: The student can only be released to the parent(s)/guardians(s) listed on the Parent/Guardian Transportation Release form.
